The Dobmeier 3-Step Professional Carpet, Rug & Mat Cleaning Guide
STEP 1 - Identify The Type Of Carpet / Rug / Mat That Needs Cleaning
Carpets, Rugs, & Mats can be designed for indoor or outdoor use, and may be made from any of a wide variety of different fiber types: 1.1.Natural Fiber Floor Coverings with natural fibers derived from either Animals or Plants 1.2.Synthetic Fiber Floor Coverings with man-made polymeric fibers
Also, Blended Floor Coverings with combinations of Natural and/or Synthetic Fibers
These different types of carpet / rug fibers may require varying cleaning procedures and different cleaning chemicals.
STEP 2 - Identify The Optimum Carpet Cleaning Methodology To Use
Carpets should be regularly Vacuum Cleaned of loose dirt and soil by using a quality Vacuum Cleaner with a beater bar / brush head. Any remaining soil or stains will then require use of carpet cleaning chemicals and equipment. There are 3 broadly different strategies for dealing with different carpet cleaning scales and degrees of soiling:
Small Area 'Contained' Soiling, Spills, & Stains are typically most efficiently removed using Carpet Spotters that may be designed for all-purpose cleaning or may be designed to remove specific contaminants such as ink, gum, oil/grease, tar etc.
Broad Area Carpet Surface Soil is usually easily dealt with using Carpet Shampoo applied using either a Carpet Shampoo Machine or Bonnet Cleaning Equipment.
Broad Area Deep-Cleaning to remove heavily ingrained soiling and dirt from carpets and rugs requires that Carpet Extraction Detergent be applied (and then removed) using a powerful Carpet Extractor Machine.
A janitorial carpet cleaning schedule may include regular (daily?) broad-area vacuum cleaning and use of Carpet Spotters to quickly remove any small-area staining, with scheduled (weekly?) broad-area shampooing or extracting to maintain the carpet.
STEP 3 - Identify The Optimum Carpet Cleaning Supplies To Use
Janitorial Carpet Cleaning - Diversey and SSS (Triple S) each offer a range of very effective Carpet Spotters that should meet the demands of most Janitorial carpet cleaning situations:
Residential Carpet Cleaning - Dobmeier offers a Laundry Spotter Kit that is ideal for homeowner use in safely removing a wide range of tough stains from Laundry, Upholstery and most Carpets & Rugs.
An excellent range of Carpet Pre-Sprays, Carpet Shampoos and Carpet Extraction Cleaners are available from either Diversey and Triple S.
